Oh Christmas Tree

Is it really Christmas already?

I have no idea where the time has gone and there’s still loads to do before this album is finished.  Nick Beggs has played a blinder once again with a bass line as chunky as a Trucker’s Yorkie bar.  I’ve also had some wonderful vocals done by the amazing Rachael Hawnt.  What a voice.

The endless quest for guitar tone continues and there are still some guitar parts that need recording again for the 10th time which I’ll be finishing over Christmas.  There maybe a few guests to go too so will need to hit it hard in the new year.  I’ve also got some new shiny Yamaha monitors and mixing will start very soon.

I should be able to reveal the album title very soon too.  It will be no surprise that it’s another concept album with a strong existentialist theme presented in a shiny alien themed wrapper.  There will be a companion website that should intrigue, or probably frustrate or even incite accusations of pretentiousness but this theme wouldn’t rest and needed an outlet.  It started visually, in fact the cover art was done before I’d even bottomed out the concept but I’m especially pleased with how it’s sounding.  The Waldorf Blofeld synth I bought last Christmas has paid its way with some very 80s sounding arps. This combined with some vintage emulation from the guys at Synth Magic has lead to a whiff of John Carpenter emanating from some of the resulting tracks which is very agreeable.

2016 is going to be mighty busy.

Merry Christmas to you and yours…

Just mention of the forthcoming album is Xmas present enough for me, so impressed have I been by your previous albums. Oh, and NDV playing drums – that makes it a no brainer. 🙂

Sort out a preponderance. I’ll pay today for the prospect of a new Cosmograph CD.

I’m afraid we don’t tour at all not even our own country, the financial risks are too high and the returns very unproven. The truth is people won’t come out in enough numbers to hear unknown music. There are also currently massive problems for any foreign band getting a visa to play in the US.
